(1) Each flight simulation training device (FSTD) used for training, and for which a candidate for the issue, revalidation, reissue or maintenance of competency requirement to receive credit, must be approved by the Director for each particular purpose in terms of regulation 61.01.17, taking into consideration—
(a) the training, testing or checking for which it is to be used;
(b) the particular manoeuvre, procedure, or crew member function to be performed; and
(c) the representation of the specific category and class of aircraft, type of aircraft, or particular variation of the type of aircraft.
(2) The Director may approve any other device for a purpose not provided for in subregulation (1).
(3) The Director may approve any of the devices, referred to in subregulations (1) and (2) on the basis of a similar approval by the regulatory body of a Contracting State.
